Purpose of award
To reward an original paper on any subject falling within the general area of Intellectual Property Law (patents, trade marks, registered designs, copyright).
Open to any tertiary student who is a New Zealand resident.The Award is made for the best paper of between 5,000 and 10,000 words on any subject within the area of Intellectual Property Law.
The Award is only made if an entry of sufficient standard is received.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
No conditions of acceptance apply to this award.
How do students apply?
No application form required - simply send the paper with a short covering letter explaining the applicant's background and current course of study.
How and when do students learn of the decision?
Applicants are notified of the decision.
Papers are read by at least three Council members of the NZ Institute of Patent Attorneys, and the winner is selected by discussion.
History or background of award
The award was set up by the Loman Friedlander Trust to commemorate a family member's strong interest in the area of Intellectual Property Law.
