Purpose of award

The purpose of these Scholarships is to encourage successful tertiary study in the field of secular broadcasting by young Christian men and women who intend pursuing a career in mainstream media.

Selection criteria

Applicants for the Scholarship must:be New Zealand citizens or have New Zealand permanent residential status, have been accepted for enrolment or enrolled in a broadcasting course at a New Zealand tertiary Institute, be at least 18 years of age and under 35 years of age at the time of application,be a bona fide member of a Christian denomination or community.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

A written report to CBA of no more than 350 words may be required of the Scholarship holder within six weeks of the completion of their course. The purposes of this will be to advise CBA of the progress made and whether or not the course has been passed (and, if so, with what grade); an outline of what has been learned; and how and where the learning may be applied in a future career.

How and when do students learn of the decision?

All applicants will be notified by the CBA in writing of the outcome of their application as soon as is practicable. The payment of the Scholarship will be by cheque, made out to the Scholarship holder. It will be made no later than 31 May.

The Selection Committee will be nominated by the CBA.

These scholarships are provided by the Christian Broadcasting Association (CBA). It is intended they be made available annually.

Additional information

The ultimate outcome that is envisaged is that in years to come, more men and women of Christian faith will move into positions of leadership and responsibility in the mass media.
