What does the scholarship get me?
Elite Tertiary (Up to $30,000) and Secondary (Up to $1,500).

Purpose of award
The Dame Malvina Major FoundationTaranaki Committee, with the support of the TSB Community Trust, offers funding opportunities twice a year to Taranaki youth involved in the performing arts. The committee seeks to support educational and training opportunities specifically designed to develop the skills of talented young Taranaki performers.
Selection criteria
Grants are open to artists from anywhere in the Taranaki District and are available in three categories -- Secondary School, Elite Tertiary level and groups and organisations -- to support performers in the varying stages of their development.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
Grants will not be paid directly to applicants but paid directly to teachers or service providers upon presentation of invoices.

History or background of award
The Dame Malvina Major Foundation was established in 1991 to enable Dame Malvina Major’s vision to “share the dream” with talented young artists. The Foundation helps young New Zealanders achieve their potential in the performing arts by providing a range of grants, prizes and scholarships. Dame Malvina Major Foundation Arts Excellence Awards are currently available for young performers in the Auckland and Waikato, Taranaki, Wellington and Christchurch regions.
