Purpose of award
To assist women to complete the final year of a full-time undergraduate Bachelor with Honours degree or postgraduate Bachelor with Honours degree at an approved Institute in the Auckland area.
Applicants for the Bachelor with Honours Degree Awards must be:
b) New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents;
Preparing to enrol full time in a final year of an Undergraduate Bachelor (Honours) Degree or a Postgraduate Bachelor (Honours) Degree at one of the
a) following Institutes: the University of Auckland, Massey University Auckland, AUT, Manukau Institute of Technology, Unitec, NorthTec, or Te Wānanga O Aotearoa (Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Tai Tokerau campuses), or Te Whare Wānanga O Awanuiārangi (Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Tai Tokerau campuses).
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
The successful applicant is required to complete her year of study and make a brief report at the end of this study. Failure to complete two full consecutive semesters will require refund of the full value of the award.
How do students apply?

Each applicant for these awards must submit her application on the current prescribed application form, together with:
a) a certified copy or statutory declaration of her academic record. (This can be in the form of a certified digital document from the tertiary institution);
b) a certified copy of evidence of status as a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident;
c) confirmation that a confidential reference has been sought from one referee.
“Certified copy” means a copy of the original certified as true by an appropriate authority (for example, Academic Registrar, Head of Department, Study Supervisor, or Justice of the Peace).
A “Statutory declaration” must be made before a Justice of the Peace or Solicitor on the appropriate form.

How and when do students learn of the decision?
The Bachelor with Honours Degree Awards shall be paid in one instalment on presentation of proof of enrolment as a full time final year Undergraduate Bachelor with Honours or Postgraduate Bachelor with Honours degree student at one of the above named tertiary Institutes: for example, a copy of the receipted fees’ invoice or certification from the relevant department.
In making these awards, the selection committee shall give consideration to:
a) the applicant’s academic record;
b) the applicant’s referee’s report;
c) the applicant’s need for financial assistance;
d) the applicant’s aspirations for the future;
e) any special circumstances, e.g. family responsibilities, personal disability, considered relevant.
These awards may not be held concurrently with an award of equal or higher value.
