What does the scholarship get me?

Applications close at the end of October each year.

Length of award

Awarded initially for a period of one year and may be extended to a maximum of two years at the discretion of the Trustees if the scholarship holder achieves satisfactory academic results in their first year of study.

Purpose of award

The scholarships shall be awarded to students to assist them in pursuing a full time course of tertiary education.

Selection criteria

The scholarship shall be awarded only to students who normally reside in the area served by the former Waipawa District High School and the townships of Ongaonga, Tikokino and Otane, and who have spent the greater part of their secondary education (the decision of the Trustees on this requirement to be final) at Central Hawke's Bay College.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

Must provide satisfactory academic results for continuation of scholarship.

How do students apply?

Applications are to be lodged with the Principal, Central Hawke's Bay College by the end of October each year.

History or background of award

The Eric Tate Scholarship was established in 1984 to the Waipawa District Council by Mr Eric Tate (now deceased) of Napier and formerly a resident of Waipawa.
