What does the scholarship get me?
Up to $2,000 (including GST) dependant upon qualification undertaken.

Purpose of award
DSS providers can apply for training grants to help with the cost of employees taking part in NZQA training.
DSS providers can apply for training grants to help with the cost of employees taking part in NZQA training. The grant can only be used for approved qualifications.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
How the grant can be used: The grant covers the costs of employees taking part in approved NZQA training. The grant can be used for;
related resources (e.g. workbooks, tutors/facilitators
wages of the course participant, if training occurs outside of their regular working hours, or back-filling for the trainee if required
accessibility costs for disabled people, including travel and accommodation and the cost of support people (these costs do not count towards individual or organisational caps).
The grant does not fund course development and administration, standard service delivery, service development and business as usual costs.
How do students apply?
Training grants are available to assist organisations providing disability support with costs arising from employee participation in a Ministry of Health approved national certificate or diploma. This form is to be completed and submitted electronically by the organisation rather than by individual trainees. Before completing this application, please read the eligibility criteria and approved course list.
There are two parts to this application. Please complete both the application form and the participant spreadsheet. More information about the process can be found in the application form.

Applications are open all year and you will be informed of the decision and time of award during this process.

History or background of award
"Whāia te ara Poutama – Pursue the pathway of education and betterment".
As well as complying with our terms and conditions, training grant applications must also meet the following criteria.
If you meet all eligibility criteria, you will be approved for funding and you will receive a contract. You can invoice DWD once the contracts are signed.
-The organisation must:
be a MOH funded DSS provider
be willing to submit a report after the training – view an example report template here
be willing to provide an updated participant spreadsheet after the training, confirming the names of participants who took part.
-The person named as the authorised contract signatory must have authority to enter into a contractual relationship with Te Pou.
be paid employees of a MOH funded DSS provider
be employed in a role that has significant interaction with disabled people
be New Zealand citizens or hold permanent resident status
be supported by their employer to participate in the course
be eligible to enrol in the approved NZQA course.
-The training must:
not already be fully funded by other agencies/funds
be included in the MOH approved qualifications list
start (and usually end) in the calendar year of the grant
be directly relevant to the DSS provider.
-The application must:
be submitted on a current application form via email
be submitted from the email address of the authorised contract signatory.
