Entry requirements
The Heke Kawa Oranga encourages expressions of interest from people with an interest in one or more of the following areas: Maori Health Promotion, Maori Performance and Participation in Sport, Maori Performance and Participation in Exercise.
Applicants should:
- Demonstrate an ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both te reo Maori and English.
- Have a desire to make a positive contribution to Maori wellbeing, specifically within the key areas of Maori health promotion and Maori performance and participation in sport and exercise.
- Be committed to expressing kaupapa and embracing te reo and matauranga Maori as vehicles for Maori lifestyle advancement.
- Be prepared to engage in personalised Kawa Oranga, with an emphasis on regular physical activity, optimal nutrition and positive lifestyle modification strategies.
- Have a strong level of support from whanau or work colleagues for the duration of study within the Poutuarongo Kawa Oranga degree.
- Be aged 17 years old or over.
If applicable, have existing qualifications or suitable experience in either sport, exercise, nutrition, Maori health or other similar areas.
