What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is:
- to maintain professional standards for the funeral services sector by identifying those individuals who have attained sufficient knowledge, practical skills and attitudes to provide funeral directing services
- to provide competent funeral directors to members of the public requiring this service and enable the public to have access to professional and safe funeral directing services
- to provide for those individuals who are employed in the funeral directing sector of the funeral services industry, a credential that will support their employment opportunities
- to provide professional, competent funeral directors who are able to exercise responsibility under broad guidance.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Academic Open English Language A minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 or equivalent. Other One year's relevant experience in the funeral industry; employment in the funeral directing sector; have an approved Supervisor; and evidence of suitability based on interview. It is recommended that: * Applicants have achieved NCEA Level 2, or have the equivalent knowledge and skills * Hold a current first aid certificate
