What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is:
* To provide competent employees for the hospitality sector who are able to work as chefs in senior positions producing advanced dishes in a professional kitchen.
* To provide for those individuals who are employed as chefs in senior positions, a credential that will enhance their employment opportunities in a professional kitchen across the hospitality sector.
* To establish standards of professional practice for advanced cookery that can provide customers with confidence in a range of hospitality environments.
The strands in this qualification allow graduates to have advanced general cookery skills or to specialise in Patisserie.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Entry requirements for New Zealand and International Students: -Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years old. -Applicants must have completed a basic food safety course and workplace training or cookery qualification equivalent to level 4 complex cookery -Applicants without formal qualifications must meet the minimum requirements of the NZMA placement assessment -Applicants who do not have English as a first language will need to show that they are capable of successfully completing the course by achieving and providing documented evidence of an IELTS academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 OR alternative NZQA approved proficiency outcomes for entry at level 5 OR an equivalent score on the NZMA English Language Entry Assessment.
