About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the tourism and travel industries with individuals who can contribute to and lead the effective implementation of processes in the tourism industry. Their knowledge and skills will proactively and productively strengthen and enhance the visitor experience, to strengthen the contribution of tourism to the New Zealand economy.
The qualification will benefit the community by enriching New Zealand's tourism visitor experiences.
Graduates will be able to deliver a high-quality visitor experience across diverse organisations in the tourism and travel industries. They will be able to work independently and may also have responsibility for leadership in developing and guiding strategic business direction in the tourism and travel industries.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
A Level 5 related qualification or equivalent; or a Level 4 related qualification and relevant work experience; or evidence of ability to meet academic requirements; and evidence of English language competency where English is not a first language. Detailed Requirements Related qualifications are those qualifications recognised by Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology as being specific and relevant to the tourism and travel field and industry context. Relevant work experience equates to work experience at supervisory or junior manager level in the tourism and travel industry. For international applicants who come from non-English speaking backgrounds, an IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5, or an equivalent relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined in NZQF-related rules (Rule 18). For domestic applicants for whom English is not their first language, evidence of language competency may be required.
