About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the hairdressing industry with people who have obtained sufficient knowledge, practical skills and attitudes to perform limited salon and client services that contribute to the effective operation of a salon.
This qualification is intended for people who may have no prior knowledge or experience in hairdressing and who wish to learn hairstyling and colouring tasks and basic hair cutting techniques.
Graduates will be capable of operating at a foundation level under supervision.

Minimum requirements
Applicants shld demonstrate an ability to succeed in tertiary study, shown by the completion of any of the following qualifications or courses of study: NCEA lv1 & at least 30 Lv2 credits and/or Equivalent NZQF standards OR NZ Cert in Salon Skills (Introductory) Level 2. Applicants whose language is not English are required to provide evidence of having passed such tests of English language as stipulated in Policy and Procedure English Language Proficiency. Applicants who do not meet the academic entry criteria above may be admitted to the programme if they are able to demonstrate: Equivalent knowledge and skills; and/or Previous & relevant life skills or work experience; and/or Other formal or informal study such as to suggest likelihood of successful programme completion. Entry to the programme will be in order of receipt of completed enrolments. Applicants who seek entry to the programme under life skills or work experience, may be required to attend an interview, and/or supply references or other supporting documentation
