About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the youth work sector with youth workers who have the operational and theoretical knowledge, skills and attitudes to contribute to the development and safety of taiohi.

This qualification is for people who intend to develop their skills, knowledge and practice within the youth work sector.

Graduates will be able to carry out youth work roles under managerial supervision and guidance.

Graduates will support the social and cultural aspirations of Māori and Pacific people(s) and demonstrate their commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through their interactions with taiohi and their communities and their work.

Minimum requirements

DOM L4.1 - All applicants must have NCEA Level 2 with passes in English/Te Reo Maori or education achievement at least equivalent to NCEA Level 2 and, - Declaration of any criminal conviction - Character References - Police vetting consent form * DOM L4.2 - For domestic applicants for whom English is not their first language evidence of language competency may be required and, - Declaration of any criminal conviction - Character References - Police vetting consent form
