About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with people who have business knowledge and skills that can be applied in a range of operational business contexts.

Graduates will be able to contribute to the achievement of business operational objectives, through the application of knowledge and skills, in an ethical and inclusive manner, in accordance with ngā kaupapa o te Tiriti o Waitangi (the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi), and in a multi-cultural environment.

The qualification includes strands that allow graduates to apply knowledge and skills in a range of specialised business operational contexts. Some strands can lead to further credentialing by professional bodies.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

A minimum of 14 numeracy credits at level 1 or higher in Mathematics or Pangarau on the Directory of Assessment Standards, and 50 credits at level 2 or above with at least 12 credits in each of three subjects including a minimum of 8 literacy credits at level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Maori; of which 4 credits must be in reading and 4 credits must be in writing. The literacy credits will be selected from a schedule of approved achievement standards and unit standards found on the NZQA website at Literacy requirements for University Entrance. or Successful completion of the NZ Certificate in Business (Accounting Support Services) (Level 4), the NZ Certificate in Business (Introduction to Small Business) (Level 3) or (Small Business) (Level 4), or the NZ Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology) (Level 3) or (Level 4) or* An equivalent qualification including evidence of equivalent literacy and numeracy abilities as stated above. Or, if the applicant is 20 years or over:* Evidence of relevant knowledge and experience, including literacy and numeracy abilities as stated above.* IELTS 5.5 Academic (no band score lower than 5)* NZCEL Level 4 General or Employment For acceptable alternatives refer to the English Proficiency Outcomes Chart.There are no other requirements. Computer literacy is highly recommended in order to be able to cope with the online components of the courses.
