Entry requirements
This qualification is intended for airport employees or New Zealand Defence Force personnel only, as airside assessment opportunities are restricted to those persons holding an Airport Identity Card issued by the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority under the sponsorship of an airport employer, or members of the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) under the authority of the relevant NZDF Policy.

What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the airports sector of the aviation industry with individuals who have attained sufficient operational skills and knowledge to provide safe, secure and customer-friendly airport facilities, for domestic and/or international travellers.
They will have broad organisational and service skills, combined with specialised knowledge required for operating in the highly regulated, safety and service dominated aviation industry.
The qualification is stranded to enable people to specialise in airport customer service, airport maintenance, airport safety, or aviation security, while developing a broad knowledge of the full range of airport operations. The strands have some degree of commonality to meet the diverse needs of airports across New Zealand.
Their applied skills and knowledge will involve working under broad guidance, and they may also have some responsibility for the performance of others.
