About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is for people seeking the core skills and knowledge in the design and making of jewellery required to work in an assistant position in a jewellery or associated creative industries environment.

The jewellery industry and creative and cultural sector in Aotearoa New Zealand will benefit by having trained jewellery assistants enter the sector.

Graduates will be capable of self-managing within defined guidelines to produce jewellery items.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following entry requirements ? Have successfully completed the MIT Certificate in Jewellery (Level 4) or an equivalent programme or ? Present a portfolio of examples of jewellery work completed in the previous 18 months and a personal statement outlining the reasons for choosing to apply for the programme. 9.1.2 Interviews Where an applicant's portfolio does not supply sufficient information to enable a decision on acceptance into the programme, the applicant may be invited to an interview for the purpose of gaining further relevant information. 9.1.3 English Language entry requirements Applicants must have sufficient competence in the English language to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English. English Language requirements for International Students Any applicant whose first language is not English will be required to provide evidence of their English language competency as follows: Have English language competence to undertake this programme which is taught in English, for example, have achieved NCEA Level 2 English with 4 credits in reading and 4 credits in writing or equivalent. Any applicant whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 6.0 (with no score below 5.5) or equivalent 9.1.4 Regulatory requirements For the Diploma in Jewellery (level 5) a student can do a maximum of 3 courses as a Certificate of Proficiency. If they wish to complete more then 3 courses they are required to enroll in the entire programme 9.1.5 Other requirements Applicants must be physically capable of completing the programme. 9.2 Selection Where the programme is oversubscribed, applicants who have met the entry criteria will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis.
