What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is intended for people who are experienced workers in the horticulture industry who want to develop their skills and knowledge to supervise day to day operations in a horticulture services subsector or area within a subsector.

It recognises the specific skills and knowledge of individuals who can, in a self-managed capacity, take responsibility for the daily operations in the amenity, arboriculture, cemetery, garden centre, landscape design, landscape construction, or sports turf sector.

Graduates will be able to work independently and may have some responsibility for the performance of others.

The qualification includes strands that recognise the distinct skills and knowledge for specific horticulture services sectors.

6.1.1 General This is open entry. 6.1.2 Academic N/A. 6.1.3 Information Session Applicants are required to attend an information session to determine their suitability for the programme. An information session for all students on application to the programme will determine their suitability and likelihood for success and to ensure they are well informed about the programme. Whanau are encouraged to come in support of applicants. The session will provide an opportunity to discuss the following: * any learning support that may be required by the applicant * any health matters or otherwise that may relate to the physical aspects of the programme and any other relevant matters. English Language entry requirements Applicants must have sufficient competence in the English language to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English. This will be demonstrated by meeting the current NZQA requirements.
