About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the aeronautical engineering industry with graduates who have attained sufficient theoretical knowledge and practical skills, and are working towards the privileges of certifying the release to service of aircraft or their components following maintenance. The qualification covers the subjects required for the issue of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence (AMEL) (issued under Part 66 of the Civil Aviation Rules 1990) without rating privileges, with the individual strands recognising the specific categories and groups as defined in CAA Part 66, to achieve employment as licenced aviation maintenance engineers.

Graduates will be entirely responsible for their own learning and performance, as well as some responsibility for the performance of others in a context governed by the applicable CAA rules and categories.
