What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the commercial road transport industry with senior heavy vehicle operators who have the operational and technical skills and knowledge to undertake senior or lead driver tasks and responsibilities relating to driver training, team supervision, and coordination of operations.

This qualification is targeted at people with significant and accomplished experience as heavy vehicle drivers (typically five years in industry) or those who have comparable skills and knowledge, who wish to progress in to a more senior role within their workplace. Learners will benefit by having a qualification that enables improved job performance and enhanced employment opportunities in the field of commercial road transport.

This qualification does not permit the holder to drive a motor vehicle on New Zealand roads without a current relevant driver licence issued by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA).
