Entry requirements

Academic entry and admission requirements are in accordance with Waiariki's Academic Regulations and the following criteria:
Applicants will be required to submit a 400-word statement about their professional goals and rationale for seeking entry into this programme. Applicants may be interviewed in person or via Skype to evaluate their suitability to enter the programme.
All applicants must possess:
* a graduate diploma at NZQA Level 7 or equivalent; or
* an undergraduate degree or equivalent; or
* a bachelor's honours degree, or a postgraduate certificate, or the equivalent at Level 8.
Provisional Entry: Applicants who do not meet the standard entry above in a relevant field for the Postgraduate Diploma in Management, but present evidence of ability to succeed, require a combination of academic and practical or professional experience:
* a three-year post-secondary school diploma in a related discipline at NZQA Level 7 or equivalent from a recognised tertiary provider, and demonstration of at least three years' equivalent practical or professional experience at a managerial level with at least two written references; or
* demonstration of at least five years' equivalent practical or professional experience at a senior management level, evidence of ability to study at postgraduate level, and three written references (as an employee and of your character).
English Language Competency: Applicants much have an overall International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of at least 6.5 (Academic) with no band less than 6.0, or equivalent, where English is not the primary spoken language. Where English is the first language, Waiariki may require students to achieve 65 on the Waiariki English Test.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Management is designed for domestic and international students seeking to advance scholarly research and practice-informed management. It will build on previous undergraduate degree, graduate and postgraduate studies and strengthen career aspirations within fields of management, business, health, hospitality, or information technology.
The advanced standard at which the graduates will operate includes the ability to articulate theory and practice within a management scope. Graduates will engage in independent study demonstrating an advanced level of knowledge and employing discourse analysis and critical enquiry in a relevant management context.
Through work-integrated practice and advancing theoretical knowledge, the graduates will extend management capabilities to generate solutions to complex problems, particularly (but not exclusively) in the areas of business, health, hospitality, or information technology.
