Entry requirements

All programmes leading towards this qualification must take into consideration the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, its regulations and any subsequent amendments. When programmes are contextualised for a specific industry, any industry specific codes of practice, guidelines and standards must be incorporated into that programme.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide New Zealand workplaces with people who have the knowledge and skills to lead, develop, influence, implement and integrate effective workplace health and safety systems across business entities and thereby contribute to healthy and safe work environments in a variety of New Zealand sectors.

Graduates of this qualification will benefit New Zealand workplaces, the community, workers and their families and whanau by leading and contributing to the effective design, implementation and maintenance of healthy, safe and productive work environments.

This qualification is intended for people planning a career as a health and safety professional, and for individuals who are entering or already working in a health and safety management role at an influential leadership position within an organisation.
