About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification provides an applied programme of study for students who wish to become addictions practitioners and counsellors. The focus is on applied practice in addictions and counselling, and the development of skills and knowledge that are valued both in a range of occupations and professions and in the wider community. The incorporation of inter-disciplinary studies and industry-focused or industry-based projects develops both specific skills in a discipline and also transferable skills needed for collaborative and entrepreneurial work. Students graduate with the skills, attributes and capability to adapt and respond to ongoing change in the addictions and counselling fields of practice. On completion of the programme students will be eligible to apply for provisional membership/registration with DAPAANZ, NZAC and the New Zealand Christian Counsellors Association (NZCCA).
