What can I expect out of this qualification?

The Graduate Diploma in Computer Generated Imagery (GDCGI) programme aims to enable students who have a base of knowledge and skills related to CGI to further develop their specialist CGI capability to a more advanced level and/or to prepare for further study at postgraduate level in computer generated imagery or a related field. It aims to produce graduates who are capable of using industry standard CGI production processes, specialist tools and techniques to generate effective and innovative design, technical, pipeline and workflow solutions.

Minimum requirements

To gain entry to the Graduate Diploma in Computer Generated Imagery an applicant must have: An undergraduate degree in a discipline related to animation and/or computer generated imagery All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those students whose first language is not English should have an international English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall academic score of at least 6.0 (with at least 5.5 in each band) issued within the last two years, or A qualification considered to be equivalent to the above. All applicants must submit a portfolio of work showing evidence of their experience and ability in computer generated imagery and/or animation. A sufficient level of computer literacy* is required. An applicant must provide evidence to the Head of Department or delegate that they have a level of competency in the use of IT which will allow them to successfully operate at the required level of study. Evidence to support an applicant's motivation and ability to successfully undertake the programme with a reasonable likelihood of success may be requested. In exceptional circumstances an applicant who does not meet the full entry requirements may be granted admission to the programme on the approval of the Head of Department or delegate if he/she is confident of the applicant's ability to successfully undertake the Graduate Diploma with a reasonable likelihood of success. Qualifications other than those listed in the Entry Requirements above will need to be assessed for equivalence, and applicants holding these qualifications will need to seek Special Entry permission from the Head of Department.
