Entry requirements

Admission Applicants must meet University Entrance requirements or equivalent as defined by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). An applicant who is over 20 years of age and who does not meet the admission qualification regulations may be accepted for admission where they can demonstrate preparedness for study and qualification equivalency through work/voluntary experience. An applicant whose first or primary language is other than English (EAL) or te reo Maori will be required to have attained a band score of 6.0 with no category lower than 5.5, for each component of the academic version of IELTS (International English Language Testing System). In order to enrol to study with ECNZ in the B. Ed an applicant must provide evidence of meeting the required entry criteria for their chosen programme of study. Once accepted into the programme, enrolment will be subject to confirmation pending satisfactory completion of enrolment requirements as follows: * An enrolment form * An agreement to abide by ECNZ's information and communications technology (ICT) rules * Payment of all study fees Additional for International students: * Evidence of appropriate Visa * Evidence of appropriate insurance policies for travel and health * Evidence of satisfactory English proficiency requirements Failure to satisfactorily complete the enrolment process within ECNZ's designated timeframe may lead to cancellation of enrolment.

The Bachelor of Education aims to provide graduates with a comprehensive body of knowledge and skills on education and issues in education, equipping students with a qualification that offers a range of career options or a pathway to further study. * Career options following successful completion of the Bachelor of Education might include e.g., child advocate, policy analyst, community strategic planner, migrant and refugee support person, youth worker. * The Bachelor of Education can be used as a pathway to graduate and postgraduate level study in teaching and/or professional practice. * Graduates will have the skills to examine, critique, compare and evaluate information that informs their understanding of contemporary issues and trends, curricula, policy and ethical practice in education. * Graduates will be culturally aware and have knowledge of models of education within a diverse range of contexts. * Graduates will be able to build collaborative, responsive and professional relationships and, with opportunities to undertake comparative study, are provided with an appreciation of wider cultural and geographical contexts.
