Entry requirements

It is expected that ākonga/learners for this micro-credential will be currently employed or seeking employment in the forestry or related sectors. Where employment is not yet secured, providers may arrange work placements or deliver learning in simulated environments.
Literacy and numeracy: Ākonga/learners require sufficient levels of literacy and numeracy to allow them to read and understand workplace documents, complete necessary calculations and complete assessment tasks.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this micro-credential is to recognise the foundational skills and knowledge required to work safely and responsibly in a commercial forestry operation. It is intended for people entering or currently working in roles where understanding health and safety, environmental responsibilities, and personal wellbeing is essential.
Graduates will be able to follow worksite procedures and apply safe, effective, and environmentally responsible practices, including responding appropriately to forest emergencies, managing personal health, maintaining hydration and nutrition, and recognising factors that influence stress, fatigue, and work performance.
Achievement of this micro-credential supports safe participation in forestry operations and provides a platform for entry level progression into a range of forestry roles or further training within the New Zealand forestry qualifications pathway.
