- be a New Zealand or Australian citizen or permanent resident and be aged 16 years or over
- be physically capable of safely completing practical welding components
- be sufficiently competent in the English language, literacy and numeracy in order to be able to complete the micro-credential successfully
Preference will be given to applicants who have completed a qualification, or units towards a qualification, in engineering or automotive engineering at Level 1 or 2, OR have worked in an engineering environment and/or welding industry
Each applicant will be interviewed and may be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment.

What can I expect out of this qualification?
To provide industry with individuals who can prepare and weld steel using Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMAW) processes and can inspect and repair that steel to general purpose industry standards.
