Entry requirements

Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree or degree-equivalent, practical, professional or scholarly experience (e.g., technical writers, higher educators, graphic designers, librarians, scientists, corporate trainers, human resources, software developers, Kaiako Māori and others involved in training or education).

Additional to the above, applicants will submit the following as part of their application for entry onto the programme:
- A structured resume or CV

International students whose first language is not English must also demonstrate English language skills equivalent to an IELTS overall band score (Academic) of 6.5, with no band score less than 6.0, or equivalent, from one test taken in the preceding two years.

Selection Criteria
In the case that there are more applicants than places available, candidates will be given preference based on a first come first served basis and on the below:
- Within the past three years, having been employed in the training and development sector (e.g., government, education, or corporate sectors) and had a substantial role in designing or developing learning experiences.
- Strength of the answered questions supplied during application and structured resume or CV.
- Interviews may be held where further information is required.

This will provide the best initial indicator of the applicant's level and experience in learning design and development and their potential aptitude for working within a learning design environment.

Where the number of successful applicants exceeds places available, a waiting list will be maintained, and students will be offered a position in waiting list order if one becomes vacant.
