About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

Graduates of the Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Supervision will be able to practise as professional supervisors in a range of contexts, drawing from their own unique framework that integrates mātauranga (knowledge) and whakaharatau (practice).
Graduates will be able to integrate and apply supervision-specific mātauranga relevant to their cultural and professional context, and advanced pūkenga (skills) in critical thinking and reflection, and culturally responsive practice.
This Programme will prepare graduates for professional supervisor roles, in agencies or private practice, and meet the requirements of relevant professional, regulatory bodies and the cultural and practice needs of a diverse workforce population.
The target market is qualified professionals who wish to develop and extend their pūkenga and mātauranga in kaitiakitanga-informed professional supervision within the context of their mahi (work) and career.
Kaitiakitanga-informed professional supervision is an approach to teaching, learning, and practice, that is informed by the mātauranga and pūkenga underpinning 'kaitiakitanga' (kaupapa Māori professional supervision). This is a decolonising approach to professional supervision enabling traditional Western approaches to become infused with te ao Māori (the Māori worldview), and kaupapa Māori (Māori approaches) to flourish.
