At least 36 credits NCEA L2 with min. 12 credits in each English, Maths & Science, or equiv. Relevant work exp. considered if aged 20 or over. Min. 17 years.Police clearance. Fitness. Interview. English 2nd lang: IELTS 6 (each band min. 5.5) or equiv.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This pre-employment qualification is for people aspiring to work in the aircraft maintenance industry. Graduates of the Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering Fundamentals will be able to follow safe work practices, understand and use aircraft maintenance documentation, and follow quality assurance protocols. They will also be equipped with a comprehensive base of skills and experience that will prepare them for further qualifications in aircraft engineering or other specialty areas such as automotive, electrical or mechanical engineering. Educational Pathways It can also provide a pathway to the NMIT Certificate in Aeronautical Maintenance Engineering and to other training opportunities with Air New Zealand, the RNZAF, and in general aviation. Employment Pathways Holders of the Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering Fundamentals will be qualified to apply for a career with the RNZAF as trainee aircraft engineers or to work as entry-level airport ground service staff or entry-level general aviation workers.
