What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the hospitality sector with people who are able to work in management roles, with minimal supervision, across a range of hospitality sectors.

Graduates will have enhanced employment opportunities within hospitality management roles across a range of establishments in the hospitality sector.

This qualification establishes standards of professional practice for hospitality managers that can provide customers with confidence in a range of hospitality environments.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years old for entry to this programme. Preference will be given to applicants who have achieved NCEA Level 2 OR; a level 4 tertiary qualification; OR international equivalent. Applicants must have an appropriate level of English proficiency for the level at which they intend to study. New Zealand applicants without formal qualifications must meet the minimum requirements of the NZMA placement assessment. New Zealand applicants who do not have English as a first language may be required to complete the NZMA English Language Entry Assessment. International students will need to show that they are capable of successfully completing the programme by: Achieving and providing documented evidence of an IELTS academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 OR; alternative NZQA approved proficiency outcomes for entry at level 5 OR; an equivalent score on the NZMA English Language Entry Assessment^ OR; have completed significant formative education where English is the language of instruction^ ^Subject to NZQA rules, additional conditions apply.
