Entry requirements

NCEA Level 3 including 14 credits at Level 3 in each of Physics, Mathematics and one other subject from the NZQA list of approved subjects, where mathematics credits mus be taken from AS91578, AS91579, AS91575, AS91577, AS91573; literacy (10 credits at level 2 or above made up of 5 credits and 5 credits in writing); Numeracy (10 credits at level 1 or above from specified achievement standards, or unit standards 26623, 26626, 26627 or equivalent. If English is not the applicant's first language, IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5 is required. Applicants must be physically capable of undertaking the engineering workshop-based Practice Courses.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The programme aims to develop graduates exhibiting intellectual independence and capability, meeting the requirements for award of the Bachelor of Engineering Technology, and satisfying the Institution of Professional Engineers NZ requirements for entry to engineering practice leading to professional recognition as engineering technologist in the civil, electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines.
