About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The Bachelor of Global Studies (BGS) is a degree that will provide graduates with the tools to deal with challenges in a global context and be aware of other cultural perspectives and of how to negotiate difference, particularly in the workplace. The BGS will equip students with core skills in language, intercultural communication and global business allied to a major in a discipline with a global focus. They will have transferable skills suitable for a mobile career in a globalised workplace and can use those transferable skills to build a career pathway in a wide range of public and private sector domains including international business, tourism, diplomacy, teaching and non-profit organisations. The core papers of the degree ensure that graduates will be able to communicate across cultures and will have some competence in a language other than English after at least two trimesters of language acquisition. To build on the core, there will be five majors; four are new (Global Arts, Global Markets, Human Rights and International Relations) and the other is already offered (International Languages & Cultures).
